Hyland Lake Kayaking

I hauled the boat down to Hyland Lake in Bloomington. I'd walked around this lake a number of times over the years. This is the first time I paddled through it.

To get to Bloomington I had to drive on a freeway, which meant I had to make sure I had the kayak lashed down properly atop the Jeep. Since we made it there and back I guess I did it correctly. This also means I can now go anywhere.

I put in at the boat dock and proceeded to circumnavigate the entire lake. There were turtles and ducks and I'm pretty sure a beaver at one point. I skipped the little bay with the fishers in it. I didn't want to get tangles up in their lines.

I made a point of beaching at the tiny island in the middle of the lake to have my snack. It's a surprisingly high island for it's location. Geology is weird.
